MFL MarMac Community School
Regular Meeting
Monday, November 11, 2024

The MFL MarMac Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors was held on November 11, 2024, in the
library of the Monona Schoolhouse.

President, Gina Roys, called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Members present at roll call were Tonya
Meyer, Danielle Schlake, Roberta Hass, Dr. Jon Moser, Aaron Schroeder and Josh Grau. Also, present
Tim Dugger; Superintendent, Karla Hanson; Board Secretary, and Student Board Members, Mattie
Hallberg and Mariah Moser.

Mr. Dugger stated that agenda item 4i (School Budget Review Committee Requests) should be moved to
the December meeting as there is no data to present at this time. Motion by Roberta Hass, seconded by
Danielle Schlake, to approve the agenda as presented with item 4i removed. Motion carried
unanimously.

Motion by Dr. Moser, seconded by Josh Grau, to approve the consent items from the agenda as follows:

● Minutes from October 14, 2024, Regular Board Meeting
● Bills against the district as listed: General Fund: $132,543.72, Management: $7,232.00;
Enterprise: $2,760.00; Capital Projects: $61,655.56; PPEL: $18,571.27; Activity Account:
$29,508.89, Food Service: $35,805.21, Little Bulldog Childcare: $17,338.80, Dr. Smith
Childcare: $8,796.64.
● The Secretary’s Report, Activity Report and Food Service Report will be filed subject to
audit.

The motion was unanimously carried.

Motion by Aaron Schroeder, seconded by Danielle Schlake, to approve the following:

Resignations: Elizabeth (Lisa) Seitz – Elementary Paraprofessional
Leah Freese, Elementary Paraprofessional

Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Tonya Meyer, seconded by Dr. Moser, to approve the early graduation request of one
student. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Josh Grau, seconded by Dr. Moser to approve the first reading of Board Policies: 900
principles and Objectives of Community Relations, 901 Public Examination of School District Records,
902.1 News Media Relations, 902.2 News Conference and Interviews, 902.3 News Releases, 902.4 Live
Broadcasting or Recording, 903.1 School-Community Groups, 903.2 Community Resource Persons and
Volunteers, 903.3 Visitors to School District Buildings and Sites, 903.4 Public Comment on School
Premises and approve the second reading of the 800 series. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Roberta Hass, seconded by Danielle Schlake, to approve the 5 Year Plan as presented. This
plan contains a mission statement, vision statement, and defining statement which includes academic

excellence, extracurricular activities, facilities, finances, human resources, marketing, mental health
support and partnerships. Motion carried unanimously.

The snow/weather make-up schedule was reviewed. Like in the past, the State will allow 5 days of
virtual learning for weather related cancellations. Canvas, See Saw and paper packets will be utilized
again, if necessary. Motion by Aaron Schroeder, seconded by Dr. Moser, to approve the snow make-up
schedule as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

Mr. Dugger gave an overview of the district headcount, financial standing and Title programs.
Enrollment is down approximately 17 students. Overall, the district is strong financially, but ESSER funds
have ended, and we will see the impact of that. Title programs are Federal programs that help with the
costs of special education teachers, classroom size reduction and post-secondary education.
Motion by Aaron Schroeder, seconded by Dr. Moser, to appoint Gina Roys as the delegate who shall
have full authority to cast the district’s weighted vote at the Director District 3 Convention scheduled by
Keystone AEA for Monday, December 2, 2024. Motion carried unanimously.

REPORTS:

Student board members, Mariah and Mattie, reported on the following: Veterans Day Program was
organized by the student council this year, they will also hold a Holiday Carnival in December, the
Holiday Train will not be coming to Marquette this year, but the City will be collecting food and cash for
local food banks.

Larry Meyer, High School Principal, talked about the National FFA Convention, Pathfinder meetings that
look at future options for students, safety drills, incident command, IEP and 504 meetings, Dance Team
Academic Award, successful cheerleading State competition, as well as Jacob Schellhorn going to the
state cross country meet for the 4 th time. The musical was last week, girls’ basketball officially began this
week and boys’ basketball and wrestling practices start next week.

Brett Jackson, Middle School Assistant Principal, reports that Character Ed Day theme for November was
Teamwork and Fairness, girls’ basketball and boys’ wrestling have begun, conferences were well
attended, seizure training happened, Red Ribbon Week was a success, and the Fall concert is tonight.

Abbey Cottrell, Elementary Assistant Principal, also reported a fun Red Ribbon Week and well attended
parent/teacher conferences. Osborne visits are scheduled, students watched the musical, report cards
have been sent home, 4-year-old preschool is full and 3-year-old preschool is almost full. Math
curriculum is being reviewed for K-12 and a flu shot clinic was held.

Superintendent, Tim Dugger, said that the FY25 calendar will be reviewed at the organizational meeting
next month. He also expressed his appreciation for all the students and coaches who put in the extra
time and effort to be involved in extracurricular activities.

President Roys adjourned the meeting at 6:42 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for December
9, 2024, at 6:00 in the Monona Schoolhouse.
